When I saw you posted this, I was afraid he was going to say yes...And I am happy that he said no.
the idea of "self-forming" teams is a disaster. Within an organization and Managerial accountability hierarchy the team that is developed is responsible for outcomes based upon task assignments. When the leaders is absent from evaluation and accountability of the team to create the outputs; this create confusion and larger in-fighting.
